The Sunderland star has already been the target of transfer speculation this summer.
Jobe Bellingham is receiving Premier League interest following a standout debut season at Sunderland.
Borussia Dortmund of the Bundesliga has been connected with the Sunderland midfielder in recent weeks, with Tottenham and Newcastle United also expressing interest. Brentford and Crystal Palace are the latest clubs apparently interested in signing Bellingham, who is valued at roughly £12 million.
The 18-year-old, who joined Wearside from Birmingham last summer, appeared in 45 Championship games and scored seven goals for the Black Cats. Jobe primarily played in midfield during the 2023-24 season, but he has also excelled in more advanced roles such as number nine or off the front.
Though the term of Bellingham’s contract was not disclosed when he signed with the Black Cats last summer, The Echo reported last week that it still has three years to run. However, other reports have disclosed more specifics concerning Sunderland and Birmingham City’s contract for Jobe.
According to the Daily Mail, if Sunderland sells Jobe, Birmingham will be entitled to a 15% sell-on fee under a stipulation between the two teams. According to the article, if a Premier League side signs him, the Blues will receive a share of the transfer price.
Following the completion of the 2023-24 Championship season, Jobe spoke with Sunderland’s in-house media crew for an in-depth video interview about his first complete senior season as a first-team regular.
“I encourage everyone to play football here,” Jobe stated about going to Sunderland during the interview. “And the North East has wonderful people who are generous. I’ve never had a terrible interaction with someone on the street, in good or bad circumstances. When they approach me, they are really courteous, pleasant, and always have lovely things to say. That applies both ways, of course.
“But no, it has been a very pleasant experience in terms of individuals. I cannot thank the fans enough for their support and kindness. I would definitely embrace the culture, and I would encourage others to do the same wherever they go. But I’ve made an effort to embrace both the club and the surrounding community. And I don’t find that difficult.
“It’s simply getting out and about and seeing what there is. Because I’ve spent my entire life in the same region and club. To be honest, I feel like I’ve been here longer than a year. I’m not sure if that’s a good or negative thing, but yes.
“I have tried to embrace the location, the club, the fans, and the people as much as possible. And I think it has really helped me. As you mentioned, it has aided me in adjusting to the club and the surroundings. So yeah, I’m quite satisfied with that. I haven’t thought about anything for next season yet.”
