While Luton and Bournemouth produced a Premier League classic last night, Paul Merson tweeted two amusing things about Nottingham Forest.
Luton led Forest 3-0 at halftime and led the game on goal differential. They fell 4-3 in the end and headed into Saturday’s six-point game three points behind the Reds.
What was Merson’s response to such an extremely taxing Premier League evening? Let’s investigate the pundit’s response in more detail.
Paul Merson’s remarks from last night on Nottingham Forest
It’s safe to say that nobody anticipated a game this big. Not surprisingly, given Bournemouth’s lackluster play, Luton jumped out to an early lead and led 3-0.
Luton was returning to the field where they had witnessed their captain, Tom Lockyer, suffer a heart attack in December.
They were therefore ready for the match and scored three goals in the first forty-five minutes. Merson wrote on X: He thought it was time to start worrying about Forest, Everton, and Brentford.

It’s obvious that Andrea Iraola’s remarks during halftime had a greater effect than Rob Edwards’ remarks to his Luton players.
To the shock of both sets of fans, Bournemouth scored three goals in the first fourteen minutes of the second half and went on to win the match in the last ten minutes.
Merson changed his mind and made another full-time post on X:
View Tweet At the interval, Forest supporters were concerned
The Forest supporters don’t always need a reason to go into meltdown mode on social media, as evidenced by the Reds’ consistency at halftime of last night’s encounter.
Heads literally dropped off of shoulders, and if Forest is genuinely demoted in May, you can imagine how some supporters will react.
It’s crucial to remember that Forest still controls their own destiny and that they shouldn’t let the performance of other teams get to them.
Naturally, it was annoying to watch Luton take a 3-0 lead, but at the same time, their spectacular collapse only days before their match against Forest couldn’t have come at a better moment.
Twists and turns people, as a notorious manager used to say.
