Paul Merson claims that when Everton plays Manchester United on Saturday, March 9, their Premier League losing streak will reach 11 games.
Sean Dyche’s team lost to West Ham 3-1 at Old Trafford, and the Sky Sports analyst doesn’t think they can win again. He predicts that they will lose 2-0 and struggle in front of goal.
Despite coming off a dismal 3-1 loss to rivals Manchester City, Merson believes Manchester United will pick up a “comfortable” three points against the Toffees on Saturday.
He wrote the following on Thursday, March 7, for Sportskeeda: “If you’re Everton, now’s the time to play Manchester United, but the Toffees just can’t seem to win a game at the moment!
“They haven’t won in ten Premier League games, and their last multiple-goal outing in a league match occurred way back in December!” I’m just going to go with Manchester United in this match since I don’t think Everton poses a goal danger.
“It’s a little unusual for the Red Devils to win comfortably and keep a clean sheet this season, but I think they can handle the task at Old Trafford.”
Ahead of the match against Manchester United, will Sean Dyche be fired from Everton?
Everton’s situation on the field has stayed largely dismal, despite the fact that they have managed to overturn four of their initial 10-point deduction on appeal in recent weeks.
Due in part to Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s awful play, Dyche’s team appears incapable of buying a victory at this point and has similarly failed to score goals as they have looked blunt at the top of the pitch.
Even though Erik ten Hag’s team isn’t playing at its best right now, Manchester United has demonstrated that it is capable of winning, especially at Old Trafford this season. The Toffees will not have an easy task.
Hopefully, Dyche’s team can resume their winning ways and remove speculation over his future at Goodison Park. If not, this losing streak will just put more and more strain on the Englishman.
