While Nottingham Forest awaits their destiny, Everton manager Sean Dyche is appreciative of the clarity their successful appeal against a 10-point deduction has brought.
This Thursday, the penalty for Everton’s violations of the profitability and sustainability regulations was lowered to six points, ending their protracted wait for a judgment. Dyche is already trying to take advantage of the momentum the appeal judgment has given them, but there is still another case ongoing for an alleged breach in their most recent set of accounts.
Everton has regained four points, moving them up to the top of the Premier League standings. Meanwhile, Forest, who was accused by the league in January and forwarded to an independent panel, is still waiting to hear the outcome of their case. The Reds may be subject to penalties, such as a point deduction, when they appear before the commission next week.
Naturally, we’re happy to have something back,” Dyche added. “You are always avaricious and always want more and more, but we have the four points back because the club’s arguments were heard.”
“We accept that, and it now clarifies the situation, which benefits not just the players but also us. In fact, everyone benefits from it.” We’ve definitely put that on hold now that it’s official; the players are in agreement and a line has been drawn beneath it.
Although Dyche acknowledged that the players’ protracted wait for a decision had begun to weigh on their thoughts, he still commended them for their ability to stay focused. It does gradually begin to seep in. It took a while for it to happen, to be fair to these athletes,” he remarked.
