Carragher speculates as to how many points Everton might win back at the appeals court…”I would expect…”

Jamie Carragher anticipates that Everton will get back a portion of the ten points that were docked due to their violation of Premier League spending regulations.

The commentator stated on Monday, February 19, at 10:11 p.m. on Sky Sports Main Event that the Toffees might only get back two or three points while they wait to find out the outcome of their appeal against the decision made in November.

But he went on to say that Nottingham Forest anticipates losing points for breaking the profit and sustainability regulations, and that the Blues would be “very concerned” if they lost more points after being found guilty of breaking the rules once more.

“I think the initial reaction from everybody in football when they saw the 10-point deduction was ‘woah, that feels harsh,’ so I would expect some points to come back,” Carragher added. Indeed, Everton acknowledged the violation, therefore a penalty of some kind is inevitable.

Given that this has never happened before, what could it be? That is the gray area in question. However, I believe that scared off a lot of teams, who then reasoned that they couldn’t afford to stray too near to the line with FFP, PSR, or whatever term you want to use, therefore killing the January transfer window.

The most important thing to me is that I believe Everton will make up ground. I believe the maximum could be two or three points; I’m not sure.

However, from the people we’ve spoken to over the past few days, there’s a sense in football that Nottingham Forest fears they’re losing points because of their current circumstances.

“Well, Everton is in a similar situation to them—I’m not sure if it’s precisely the same—so it would also be very concerning if you gained points back and then lost them once more. Right now is not a nice moment to be an Evertonian.

Jamie Carrager slams delay over Everton's appeal to have 10-point deduction overturned - Daily Star

The Everton appeal decision may be significant in the relegation struggle.
Which division Everton plays in next season may depend on the outcome of their appeal against their 10-point deduction.

After Monday’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace, the Toffees climbed above Luton Town on goal difference, suggesting that the fight against relegation will go right down to the wire.

Even though they could be expecting for more than two or three points back, they might accept that for now because those points could be crucial in the finish of the season.

There will be genuine worries at Goodison Park that Forest, who appear to be prepared for a points deduction, would meet a similar end.

However, the Blues will be praying that turns out not to be the case because it would be extremely tough to avoid relegation should they be down again this season.
